MEET BILLY THE BEE

Billy the Bee showing off his honey

William Douglas, aka Billy the Bee, founded the Billy the Bee Foundation in 2020, inspired by the belief that bees are amazing creatures and are critical to our survival. As pollinators, bees play a part in every aspect of the ecosystem. They support the growth of trees, flowers, and other plants, which serve as food and shelter for creatures large and small. The Billy the Bee Foundation is dedicated to teaching people how to ensure the survival of bees all over our planet.

Bill learned about bees firsthand as a Board Member of the Everglades Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs, Florida. It is a community centerpiece that has provided generations of Floridians and visitors the opportunity to experience rare and exotic plants and wildlife. Bees are critical to the ecosystem in the gardens. It was here that he was able to experience the wonders of bees. He has also worked with local beekeepers to understand how bees promote growth and beauty throughout Florida and beyond.

The Mission of the Billy the Bee Foundation is simple: We are committed to supporting beekeepers, bee organizations and communities that positively impact the global bee population by selling sustainably-sourced honey products and then donating 100% of the profits to these groups. We focus on outreach and education to increase awareness of the stress being placed on the bee population.

Follow us on Facebook, & Instagram. The Foundation is self-funded. Billy the Bee is working with artisans all over the country to create honey-based products that are handmade, unique and very special. Your support, whether by sharing our story or through a purchase, allows us to continue doing what we love to do and Keep the Bees Buzzing.

What can each of us do to help ensure the health and survival of pollinators everywhere?

Be an educated consumer:  Take a look at the products you are using at home such as bath and body products,  and honey itself.

  • Are your honey and honey containing products from sources that follow ethical and sustainable practices?
  • Are your honey-containing products produced by companies who follow best practices for the environment?

Plant a bee friendly garden: provide a safe space for bees at your home by introducing flowers and plants that provide a consistent habitat for bees. Bee sure to keep it natural and do not use harmful pesticides which are detrimental to bees and one of the major causes of them dying.

Bee educated on our flying friends: take the time to do a little research on pollinators and see what changes you can make in your day to day to help keep them flourishing! Need a place to start? Check out our Resource page.
